Unexpected pregnancies put hundreds of women in Coos County in a state of crisis and panic each year, and the Coos County Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) has been providing emotional, physical and spiritual support to these women since 1986.
PRC is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization providing an array of services ranging from free pregnancy testing and limited obstetrical ultrasound scans to educational programs and assistance to parents acquiring baby clothes and supplies. All services are free of charge and are provided in a manner that promotes quality care while assuring the health, safety and well-being of its clients.
All medical services are provided under the supervision of a licensed physician in good standing with the state of Oregon. These exams always are administered following national guidelines set forth by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. All medical services are easily accessible and provided in an environment of respect, confidentiality and sensitivity.
Through its educational programs, PRC provides training for clients in the areas of prenatal care, parenting skills and basics of caring for children, along with discussion about sexually transmitted disease and reproductive health.
The Pregnancy Resource Center does not refer for or provide abortions, and always represents itself honestly and openly to current and potential clients.
Since 1986, PRC has been providing women in Coos County with alternatives to abortion as they face some of the toughest and most impacting decisions of their lives. With its loving approach and foundation of faith, the services provided to clients help them to see hope for the future.
PRC is an affiliate of Care Net National, Heartbeat International and NIFLA (National Institute of Family & Life Advocates).
